All In The Family: TV's Larry King To MC Pop Maestro Ray Conniff's 100 Album
Celebration...And - Small World - He's Bringing His Mother-In-Law Along!
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Oct. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- TV talk show monarch Larry
King MCs Music legend Ray Conniff's 100th album celebration concert, Oct. 15
... and he's bringing his mother-in-law along too!
"It's a small world," says King. "I started my career in Florida
as a
disk jockey and made a big impact immediately by using Ray's 'S Wonderful'
recording as my show theme. It was Ray's first hit and my first show. That
recording started two careers!
"Then I found that my mother-in-law, Gerri Engemann, is the former lead
singer with the Ray Conniff Chorus. She's coming with me and will perform
with Ray again!"
The "voices-and-instrument" maestro Conniff, at 81, celebrates six
decades
as a recording artist (a trombonist, he began with the big bands) and his
100th record album -- "I Love Music" (Polygram) with a concert to benefit
the
Motion Picture and Television Fund.
Since the "S Wonderful" days, King has gone the talk show route but
Conniff has remained true to his "voices-and-instruments" trademark sound.
And it has paid off: after 100 albums, he remains as one of the top 10 album
sellers of all time. And he still sells around two million albums a year
worldwide, as well as playing concert tours around the world.
In keeping with the new album's theme -- movie music -- Conniff's Oct. 15
concert will be held at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences'
Samuel Goldwyn Theatre.
